America’s Electric Cooperatives PAC

Making Your Voice Heard on Capitol Hill & the Ohio Statehouse

State and federal government officials make policy decisions that affect your local cooperative and your way of life. America’s Electric Cooperatives PAC is the federal political action committee (PAC) of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) and is backed by nearly 36,000 eligible employees, directors and members across the country. Co-ops Vote

The ‘Co-ops Vote’ initiative is a non-partisan effort developed by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA). This initiative does not endorse candidates for election. Instead, its aim is to highlight and address the unique challenges faced by rural communities, using the political process to advance their cause. Its key objectives include:

Leveraging the spotlight from the 2016 elections and keeping the focus on rural America.

Ensuring the voices of small towns and rural communities are heard and their issues remain at the forefront of policy decisions.

Actively participating in national and local elections, influencing the choice of officials who live and work in the communities.

Uniting with the 42 million members of electric cooperatives across the country to collectively advocate for rural issues.

Reminding elected officials of the significance and impact of rural issues in the wider context.

Building on the momentum from 2016 elections to ensure consistent, active participation in future electoral processes.

Boosting voter turnout in areas served by cooperatives across the country.

Facilitating voter registration and providing online links to general voting information.

Encouraging all registered voters to go to the polls on election day.

Educating members about the key national issues facing electric co-ops and introducing those topics into political and public discussions.

What Kinds of Issues Affect You?

National issues affect electric co-op members everywhere, regardless of address, profession, or political party affiliation. Still, these subjects only become priorities if enough electric cooperative voters show their elected officials that they are paying attention. Registering to vote and then actually casting your ballot are the most effective ways to send this message to your legislators.

Voices for Cooperative Power (VCP)

Voices for Cooperative Power, or VCP, is an initiative with key objectives that include:

Communicating the unique experiences and energy use of VCP members to policy makers.

Providing a platform for members of South Central Power to discuss the ways their electric co-op supports their community.
