Rules and Guidelines

ABOUT THE TOUR

Winners representing South Central Power Company will travel to Washington, D.C., by way of Gettysburg with winners from other rural electric cooperatives in Ohio. Tour participants may visit the Jefferson and Lincoln Memorials, Mt. Vernon, Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Capitol Hill, The Supreme Court, Smithsonian Institution, Arlington National Cemetery and many more sites. Students will attend an Ohio Congressional luncheon and have the opportunity to talk with the Representative from their district.

GUIDELINES

  1. Contestants must be members of this year’s Junior Class.
  2. A parent or guardian of each contestant must be a member of South Central Power Company.
  3. Winners must have written permission from a parent or guardian to participate in the tour.
  4. Members of the immediate families and /or persons residing in the households of cooperative trustees, management personnel, and /or employees of South Central Power Company are not eligible to participate in the contest or serve as winners.

MAKING APPLICATION

  1. Each contestant must complete Youth Tour Application.
  2. Application must be filled out online.
  3. South Central Power must receive the completed application by the posted deadline.
  4. Applicant must complete the writing assignment that is included with the application.
  5. The Cooperative will sponsor up to two students to participate in the 2024 Youth Tour.
  6. Winners will represent South Central Power on the Rural Electric Youth Tour to Washington, D.C., June 15 – 21, 2024.
  7. South Central Power pays transportation, lodging, meals and other incidental costs incurred with the tour. Students are responsible for souvenirs and extra personal items.
