About the SCPC Foundation

What is the SCPC Foundation?

The SCPC Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that provides monetary grants in communities throughout the 24-county service territory.

Grants have been awarded, but are not limited, to:

  • Schools
  • Civic groups
  • Charitable organizations
  • Food pantries
  • Fire departments
  • Youth activities and many others!
  • Each year, funds also are set aside for scholarships to help graduating high school seniors better afford the cost of college.

Who Makes Funding Decisions?

The Foundation, which was created in 2014, is governed by a board of directors who represent each of South Central Power’s 11 districts. The board, which is independent of the South Central Power Company Board of Trustees, meets quarterly to consider grant requests.

Where Does the Money Come From?

The funds from the grants and scholarships come from the generous donations of members who choose to “round up” their bills to the next dollar through the Operation Round Up program.

Through this program, a little change from each member leads to big changes in the lives of men, women, and children across our service area. More than $500,000 in grants and scholarships are awarded each year.

Is My Contribution Tax Deductible?

Yes, members are provided an annual contribution total on their January electric bills and can use that record for tax purposes.

How Do I Sign Up to Contribute to Operation Roundup?

New members of South Central Power are automatically included in Operation Round Up, providing a steady stream of donations to the Foundation. Currently, more than 85% of members participate. If you choose not to participate, or if you want to discontinue your contribution, simply contact us online or call (800) 282-5064.

How Do I Apply for Grant Assistance?

You will find guidelines and an application in our Operation Round Up section, or you can pick up an application from one of our office locations.
